The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is offering an advanced certificate program that involves 18 credits and leads to the status of Master Black Belt. This coursework focuses on the fundamental principles underlying the technical tools and also includes a course in technical leadership as well as a seminar on teaching and learning. The specific courses required for the program are listed below. It is strongly encouraged by the department that IE 6005 (Statistics) be your first course as it is a pre-requisite for later courses.
All of the courses for the certificate can be counted towards a master degree in IME. The Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in quality management is a 32 credit program. The Masters of Science in Engineering Management is a 42 credit program. This latter program includes up to 8 credits of coursework in Business. It also requires a major project to be implemented at the student’s sponsoring organization. All of our courses are offered at convenient times for working students at the Detroit campus of Wayne State University. Individuals who are residents of the State of Michigan will pay resident graduate tuition which is currently $502 per credit plus fees. Admission requirements for these certificate programs are the same as for our master’s degree programs.
